The TATA-binding protein, also known as TBP or Tata Binding Protein, is the general transcription factor that functions at the core of the DNA-binding multiprotein factor TFIID. Binding of TFIID to the TATA box is the initial transcriptional step of the pre-initiation complex (PIC), which plays a role in the activation of eukaryotic genes transcribed by RNA polymerase II. This protein is a component of the transcription factor SL1/TIF-IB complex, which is involved in the assembly of the PIC during RNA polymerase I-dependent transcription. The rate of PIC formation is assumed to be primarily dependent on the rate of the association of SL1 with the rDNA promoter. SL1 is involved in stabilization of nucleolar transcription factor 1/UBTF on rDNA. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Gel Supershift. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 0.1- 1ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
