Tie-2 is a member of the tyrosine protein kinase family, is a transmembrane receptor for angiopoietin 1, and may represent one of the earliest markers for cell lineage within mammalian endothelial cells. Its expression is almost only found in human, mouse and rat endothelial cells and angioblasts. Most likely, Tie-2 regulates the differentiation, proper dispersal, and proliferation of these cells during angiogenesis. Mutations in TEK are a cause of VMCM or dominantly inherited venous malformations which are characterized by serpiginious, dilated veins. Tie-2 can be found in placenta and lung tissue. Lower levels of the protein can also be found in kidney, umbilical vein endothelial cells, and brain. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000 detected Tie-2 in 10ug of human brain lysate. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Human brain lysate Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
