Used to study Kearns-Sayre syndrome and Parkinsons disease. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in Alzheimers disease, Huntingtons disease, Parkinsons disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome 15.
