LDV FITC binds to the extracellular domain of the human CD4 molecule. It is expressed as a heterodimer and has been shown to inhibit kinase signaling pathways in human lymphocytes. LDV FITC is used in cell-binding assays to detect the presence of CD4 molecules on cells and can be used to screen for HIV-1 antibodies. LDV FITC has also been shown to be effective against ischemia/reperfusion injury in rat hearts.
