Human Immunoglobulin M (Human IgM) forms polymers where multiple immunoglobulins are covalently linked together with disulfide bonds, normally as a pentamer or occasionally as a hexamer. Human Immunoglobulin M(IgM) is also by far the physically largest antibody in the circulation. Due to its polymeric nature, Human Immunoglobulin M(IgM) possesses high avidity, and is particularly effective at complement activation. Human Immunoglobulin M (human IgM) is the class of immunoglobulin characterized by mu heavy chains. Human Immunoglobulin M IgM is the first immunoglobulin to appear on the surface of B cells and the first to be secreted. Source: Human Plasma Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C.
