TTF-1 (38kD) is a member of the Nkx2 family of homeodomain-containing transcription factors. TTF-1 has been identified as a mediator of thyroid-specific gene transcription, and is involved in the activation of pulmonary-specific genes. TTF-1 is expressed in the epithelial cells of the lung and thyroid gland. TTF-1 is useful as part of a panel of antibodies used to differentiate lung and thyroid primary carcinomas from other carcinomas that metastasize to the lung such as breast and colon carcinomas. It may also be useful as part of a panel of antibodies, including anti-calretinin, used to differentiate primary lung adenocarcinomas from mesotheliomas. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Immunocytochemistry and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin sections, after microwave pretreatment): 1:10-1:20 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Normal thyroid or lung Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C.
