GLA is a homodimeric glycoprotein that hydrolyses the terminal alpha-galactosyl moieties from glycolipids and glycoproteins. This enzyme predominantly hydrolyzes ceramide trihexoside, and it can catalyze the hydrolysis of melibiose into galactose and glucose. A variety of mutations in this gene affect the synthesis, processing, and stability of this enzyme, which causes Fabry disease, a rare lysosomal storage disorder that results from a failure to catabolize alpha-D-galactosyl glycolipid moieties. This gene encodes a homodimeric glycoprotein that hydrolyses the terminal alpha-galactosyl moieties from glycolipids and glycoproteins. Clonality: Polyclonal
Concentration: 0.5 mg/ml
Molecular Weight: 49 kDa
NCBI: 2717
UniProt: P06280
Form: Liquid. Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.
25 ug of the indicated Human whole cell extracts was loaded onto a 12% SDS-PAGE gel. 3 ug/mL of the antibody was used in this experiment. In addition to the canonical 49 kDa isoform, the protein is processed to 45 kDa, and a smaller 23 kDa isoform also contains the peptide sequence. The protein also has several glycosylation sites.
WB Suggested Anti-GLA Antibody Titration: 0.2-1 ug/ml
